“Successful scientific paper publishing: the process seen from inside”

Dr Peter Stern - Senior Editor in Science – Cambridge UK - bio sketch:

I studied medicine at University of Frankfurt Medical School in Germany. During my student years I fell in love with brain research and neuroscience. After graduation I wanted to do basic research at the highest level. I therefore went to Goettingen to do my Ph.D. at Bert Sakmann’s department at the Max-Planck-Institute for Biophysical Chemistry. After some time at the Max-Planck-Institute for Medical Research in Heidelberg I went as a postdoc to University College London (Department of Pharmacology). After my postdoctoral years I became a research scientist at the Max-Planck-Institute for Brain Research in Frankfurt. In 1998 I moved to Cambridge, England to become an Associate Editor at SCIENCE. Since 2003 I am a Senior Editor in the Europe Office of SCIENCE and I am handling manuscripts on all aspects of neuroscience, especially cellular and molecular neurobiology, neuropharmacology, ion channels, electrophysiology, neurological diseases, systems neurobiology, and also higher cognitive functions.
