AIRC Individual Grants 2018

Investigator Grant - IG 2018

Scadenza: 08 marzo 2018 (solo 1 step)

Durata del progetto: 5 anni (nessun limite di costo, né di età per il Principal Investigator - PI)

These grants are intended to support the research on cancer by established and independent scientists with a strong commitment to cancer research, leading an existing research unit.

PIs should have achieved scientific independence and leadership and must have a strong track record by the submission deadline (required project involvement: at least 20% of their time)

Admission criteria:

1. Applicants must have at least one last- or co-last-author primary research paper, in press or published in the last 5 year;

2. must have a total active Impact Factor (IF) higher than 30 in the last 5 years by the submission deadline.

My First AIRC Grant (MAFG) 2018

Scadenza: 02 marzo 2018 (1 step) e 02 luglio 2018 (2 step)

Durata del progetto: 5 anni, max € 100.000/anno.

These grants are intended to encourage talented young researchers with a strong commitment to cancer research, who have never obtained an AIRC grant.

A pre-submission inquiry is mandatory.

PIs must be involved in the project for at least 50% of their time. A significant research experience in a competitive laboratory outside of Italy is not mandatory but is considered a plus.

Admission criteria:

1. Applicants must be 40 years old or younger by the time of the pre-submission application’s deadline (born on or after March 3 rd 1977);

2. must have at least 3 primary research papers as first/co-first or last/co-last author, in press or published in the last 5 years in high level peer-reviewed journals;

3. must have never been awarded an AIRC individual grant before.

Start-Up Grant 2018

Scadenza: 02 marzo 2018 (1 step) e 21 maggio 2018 (2 step)

Durata del progetto: 5 anni (3+2). € 200.000/anno

This program fosters the birth and growth of totally independent new research units under the leadership of talented young scientists, with a strong commitment to cancer research, seeking the opportunity of becoming independent investigators in Italy after a successful research experience abroad.

A pre-submission inquiry is mandatory.

PIs must be involved in the project for at least 70% of their time.

Admission criteria:

1. Applicants must have a significant experience in a competitive laboratory outside of Italy, on-going or very recent;

2. must not have been back in Italy for more than 12 months at the time of the pre-submission application’s deadline;

3. must have a strong track record including at least 2 first/co-first or last/co-last author primary research papers;

4. should be 35 years old or younger.
