400 Million Years of Evolution in Water Management

"Water management has been a fundamental selective force since plants conquered the terrestrial realm over 400 million years ago. Stomatal valves emerged early in terrestrial plant evolution as a key innovation that enabled more efficient use of water. This talk will examine how the control of these fundamental valves has changed over time, exploring a controversial theory centred around changes in the role of the phytohormone abscissic acid."
