The Animal Facility (AF) is responsible for the care, welfare and health of laboratory animals housed for scientific purposes.
The AF works in compliance with national regulations on the protection of animals used for scientific purposes (Italian decree n. 26 dated 04/03/2014 acknowledging European Directive 2010/63/EU) and is supervised by the animal welfare organism (OPBA).

The AF provides to researchers a set of technologically advanced skills, services, infrastructures and equipment that promote the study of biological processes, in different biomedical fields: basic research involved in understanding physiological and pathological mechanisms, pre-clinical research involved in developing diagnostic and therapeutic strategies, trial studies on the effects of pharmacological treatments.
