As part of the PRO-BENE-COMUNE project, funded by the Ministry of University and Research, the Mental Health Marathon (4,2 km) is an event open to the entire community of the University of Trieste and SISSA.

Students, faculty, and technical-administrative staff will take part in a day dedicated to promoting physical and mental well-being through sport—understood not only as a healthy practice that can improve mood, memory and concentration while reducing the negative effects of stress, but also as a tool for social cohesion, inclusion, and active participation, helping to prevent stigma and isolation.

The initiative will take the form of a marathon accessible to everyone—regardless of training level—and may include informational talks, personal testimonies from local associations engaged in the fields of sport and mental health, as well as the distribution of educational materials. The marathon is an opportunity to raise awareness of mental health issues, fight stigma, and foster a culture of self-care and care for others.
